Homemade Envelope - Make Homemade Envelope

Looking for an easy, family-friendly craft idea? Homemade envelopes are a very easy and fun craft project. The craft of making a homemade envelope can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. Only a few simple tools are needed to make homemade envelopes - an envelope template, pen or pencil, glue, scissors and paper.

The first step to make a homemade envelope is to decide whether to purchase an envelope template - or to make an envelope template at home. Envelope templates can be purchased at any craft store (we really like the Coluzzle Envelope, Card and Tag Template) or they can also be created at home very easily.

To make an envelope template, simply grab any size envelope, open it up and unglue the flaps. Voila', a custom homemade envelope template ready for use!

The next step to make a homemade envelope is simple as well - choose a piece of paper, and lay the envelope template on the paper. Trace the outline of the envelope template with a pencil or a pen on the chosen paper.

The following step is also very simple - just cut out along the outline. Then, just follow the template for where to fold and crease, use some glue to seal the flaps - be sure to leave an opening for the envelope contents!

Homemade envelopes can be created from a variety of papers for a unique look every time. Some paper examples include cardstock, construction paper, scrapbook paper, vellum, magazine pages, gift wrap, wallpaper, stamped paper, and calendar pages (recycle those old calendars!) - be creative and have fun with it! Make homemade envelopes in a variety of different sizes from gift tag enclosure size to 6x6 square envelopes to an even larger homemade envelope. Watch out - making homemade envelopes is addictive!
